According to tradition, a white cheesecake with honey was already served to the athletes during the celebration of the first Olympic Games in 776 b.c. But the version how we know it was initially created in 1545 with a French cheese as the base for the filling.
In 1872, a dairy farmer from Chester, New York, tried to reproduce this French cheese, but it didn’t work out as expected. His result would later be known as cream cheese and changed Cheesecake forever.
